Home 9 About our school 9 History

Rowville Secondary College officially opened in 1990 with approximately 180 students in years 7 and 8.

The student population has now grown to over 1860 across two campuses. The original campus, now referred to as “The Western Campus”, caters to students in years 7 to 12 in our General Excellence and Maths and Science Academy. The Eastern Campus opened in 1996 and caters to year 7 to 12 Sports Academy and Institute of the Arts students.

Although the College is located on two campuses, Rowville Secondary College is one great school nurturing strengths to grow curious and powerful learners. Curriculum, policies, programs, uniforms and rules are the same on both campuses and staff take consistent approaches in dealing with students.

Teachers from both campuses meet together, and all curriculum planning meetings are held as one school. All College committees, including School Council, have representation from each campus so that all decisions and College directions represent the views of staff, students and parents in the College as a whole.

Although the total enrolment is large, our class sizes are kept to a maximum of 26 with some classes often smaller than this figure. Students at each campus are provided with opportunities to take part in all College activities such as instrumental music, sport, outdoor education and other extracurricular activities including the always popular College Production. We also run a successful international program with students from many different countries learning at RSC.

Teachers are based on one of the campuses for the school year, but are encouraged to move between campuses every few years to ensure consistency in all areas of College operation.

Rowville Secondary College aims to provide the highest quality education to all our students.

We strive to see students leave Rowville Secondary College confident, happy and ready for success in a changing world.

Positive attitudes to learning leading to excellence in outcomes will come from vibrant, challenging and exciting programs. The College staff work closely with parents and the community to ensure that these goals are achieved.
